John Coltrane: 'Blue Train'
Of all of his albums, John Coltrane selected one as his favorite: Blue Train. Released in 1957, the record is frequently cited as one of the most important in the history of jazz. The 1997 reissue has several bonus tracks, as well as video and interview clips.
Irakere: 'The Best of Irakere'
Irakere was formed in Havana, Cuba in the late 1960s by the masterful pianist Jesus Chucho Valdes. Its music ranges from Afro-Cuban to bop. The album, The Best of Irakere, has a playful cover of a Mozart concerto, among other diverse tracks.

A Gangsta's Memoir Becomes a Smoking Gun
Former Los Angeles gang member Colton Simpson currently faces charges of robbing a jewelry store -- and part of the evidence against him is his own autobiography. Prosecutors say that the book, Inside the Crips: L.A.'s Most Notorious Gang, proves Simpson is an unrepentant thief. Simpson's lawyers say using the book is patently unfair.
