In northwest Arkansas, many children lack access to a bed of their own, impacting their sleep and well-being. The nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace, led locally by co-chapter president Melanie McMurtry, aims to address this issue by organizing community "bed build" events. Recently, Northwest Arkansas Community College hosted such an event, and Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams was in attendance.

For several years, the LIFE program at Northwest Arkansas Community College has been connecting college students with high schoolers who may or may not be considering attending college. This fall, the LIFE program at NWACC, Cox Communications and Harp Elementary are working together to bring the program to younger students, too.

Northwest Arkansas Community College's trail technician program will begin this fall. The inaugural director of the trail technician program, Lori Greminger, will start in that role on Monday.
