JD and Company Jazz Combo was founded by long time musical friends James Daughety and Joe Randel.

"I’m James. I began studying bass in 1976 and continued playing throughout high school - I played in the high school orchestra, jazz band, and in the “orchestra pit” for many school plays. Next, I attended the University of Missouri, St. Louis campus, from 1981 - 1985 where I was a double bass performance major.

After college, I began playing as an electric bassist for numerous blues bands and rock cover bands. It wasn’t until 2015 that I began really studying jazz. As luck would have it, sometime shortly after 2016, I met and started playing/studying jazz together with Joe. Since meeting, we have been on a mission to start a quality jazz band that puts the music first. We feel with JD and Company Jazz Combo, we’ve accomplished our goal and are proud to present the combo to the public."
