The League of Women Voters of Washington County (LWVWC) continues its Drinks and Dialogue gatherings in November. This event will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, at Crisis Brewing, 210 S. Nelson Hackett Blvd., in Fayetteville.
The guest speaker will be Cynthia Nance, dean and longtime professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law.
Nance has shaped generations of lawyers during her more than 30 years at the U of A School of Law. Since joining the faculty in 1994, she has been a mentor, teacher and leader. She became the first woman and first person of color to serve the school as dean, holding the role from 2006 to 2011 and again beginning in 2022. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom, as every graduate of the law school has been touched by her commitment to excellence and service.
Nationally, Nance is recognized as a leader in labor and employment law. She currently serves as president of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Board of Governors and as a member of the American Bar Association Board of Governors. In Arkansas, she contributes her talents to organizations including the Public Broadcasting Commission and the Women’s Hall of Fame Board.
Her remarkable contributions have earned her many of the profession’s highest honors, including the ABA Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award, the ABA Spirit of Excellence Award, and the AALS Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lifetime Achievement Award.
This event is open to the public, and admission is free.
