Controlled Chaos is a guided drip painting workshop where you’ll learn modern techniques and create your own abstract artwork on wood panels. This class is designed for all skill levels, no experience needed.
You’ll start with a practice piece to explore the process, then move into creating a final artwork that will be ready to hang once dry.

In this class we will be sewing a simple apron and using Farmer’s market flowers and block printing ink to print on them. Basic use of a sewing machine highly recommended. Please bring your sewing machine, but all other supplies will be provided. Price $65. Pre-registration required.

Learn from author and mycologist Jay Justice about local wild summer mushrooms including Amanitas, Boletes, and Chanterelles. Our morning presentation will be followed by a bring-your-own brown bag lunch break and afternoon foray in the Ozark National Forest to observe and collect mushrooms/fungi in their natural habitat. Then we'll gather our finds, head back to Ozark Folkways for a hands on identification workshop followed by one of our ever popular tastings! Jay Justice is a retired epidemiologist who formerly worked at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Arkansas Mycological Society (1982) and a scientific advisor to the Cumberland Mycological Society as well as a chief mycologist for the Missouri Mycological Society. As anyone who has attended one of Jay's workshops in the past knows, these informative and delicious events fill up quickly. Tickets are $65 per person and include tastings. Tickets are non refundable. Participants are encouraged to wear seasonally appropriate clothing, bring lunch, a walking stick if needed, sun screen, insect repellent, drinking water and a paper sack for collecting mushrooms.

Get your smocks and brushes ready; we’re painting up a storm! In this weeklong painting camp led by Eileen Guillory, campers will learn how to look at the world with an artist’s eye through discovery and lots of messy, creative fun.
We’ll explore paintings in Crystal Bridges’ collection, then head back to the studio to turn acrylics and watercolor paints into portraits, landscapes, and abstract art. Young artists will have a blast creating, making friends, and putting paint on canvas!

Attention all aspiring builders, architects, and designers – let’s make something awesome! In this weeklong summer camp led by Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, campers will get to flex their creative muscles and learn how to problem-solve by (literally) building solutions. Inspired by Crystal Bridges’ unique design, growing architects will develop valuable STEAM skills and learn to draw inspiration from their surroundings—all while having a blast building their own 3D models.

Using principles learned from the Fundamentals, Figure/Head, and Painting classes, we’ll apply our knowledge and skills to Great Master artworks. We’ll learn watercolor basics (wet on wet,wet on dry, color mixing). Each week we’ll look at various artists such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Winslow Homer and more. From each, we’ll cover the human figure, landscapes, and abstracts.
