Today on Community Spotlight, Pete talks with Suzanne Clinard, executive director of Girls on the Run of Northwest Arkansas, about an upcoming 5k run.
GOTR is a positive youth development program for 3rd through 8th grade girls that "runs" over the course of 10 weeks. The program is designed to teach young girls life skills, such as managing emotions; resolving conflict; building self confidence; and celebrating diversity. As well as learning these life skills, the program's participants have also spent the past 10 weeks training for the upcoming Inspired 5k run.
The Inspired Celebratory 5k Run will take place this Saturday, November 23rd at the Bentonville Square, beginning at 8 AM. Online registration ends tonight, November 20th, at midnight. The run is open to the public and volunteer opportunities are available.
