State Surpasses 10,000 COVID-19 Cases

June 9, 2020 1:53 p.m. —  Gov. Asa Hutchinson delivered today's COVID-19 update from Pine Bluff today. Gov. Hutchinson reported the state has 10,080 positive cases, an increase of 340 from yesterday. Thirty-four of the new cases are in correctional facilities. Hospitalizations have increased by 2 for a total of 173. Arkansas has 161 deaths related to the coronavirus, an increase of 6. 

Health Secretary Dr. Nate Smith said 4,849 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours. The state has a total of 3,044 active cases. Of those, 141 are in nursing homes, 139 are in correctional facilities and 2,764 are in the community. Gov. Hutchinson said he will announce during tomorrow's briefing if, when and how Arkansas will enter Phase 2 of the state's reopening plan.
