Of Note for Thursday, May 7: Saint-Saens Emulates a Beethovian Heroism

When Saint-Saëns penned his first sonata for violin and piano his inspiration came from Beethoven's heroic sonata composition most notably present in Beethoven's "Kreutzer" sonata. 

Maria Bachmann, violin, and Adam Neiman, piano, include the stunner on their release French Fantasy. Catch their rendering of Saint-Saëns' Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in D minor, op. 75 on Thursday's program.
