Of Note for Monday, November 2, 2015: Lute Music That Transcends Genre

John Potter’s latest project, Amores Pasados, consists of new lute songs alongside 17th century originals as well as transcriptions of songs by English composers of the 20th century. The album includes music written by Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks, and Sting, and is described in the liner notes as “an innovative attempt to bridge the gap between art song and pop song.” Join us for Monday’s program as we explore highlights from this intriguing recording.
