Vladimir Horowitz was a legendary pianist near and dear to Chicago’s heart, selling out repeat concerts for fans who just couldn’t get enough. That’s why, in 1986, he decided to plan a performance that would be broadcast locally on a Chicago radio station, as a gift to his admirers across the city. That broadcast was played only twice until it was rediscovered in the radio station’s vaults in 2013.
