Rach III as 'Monster:' An In-Studio with Pianist Benedetto Lupo

"It's always been considered one of the hardest piano concertos ever," says Italian pianist Benedetto Lupo regarding Rachmaninov's 3rd piano concerto. "It's not just about muscles and notes. Although when you open the score it's so dark because there are so many notes, it's hard to read all of them. But that's just one aspect of the piece. The piece is full of poetry."

Lupo visits Fayetteville to perform Rach III with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra 2016 in their concert opener "Russian Masterworks" Saturday, May 21, at Walton Arts Center. Listen to the entire interview and in-studio performance here.
