Of Note for Mon., June 13, 2016: Ksenija Sidorova Reinterprets Carmen

“Femme Fatale, tragic heroine, free spirit, object of desire—Carmen fascinates and captivates like no other woman,” says accordionist Ksenija Sidorova.

Sidorova’s debut album crosses genres, bringing the accordion to Bizet’s opera. She cites her inspiration for these pieces to be tied to the free-spiritedness of Carmen, paying tribute to Bizet’s opera with a fresh re-imagining of each piece. Hear highlights from Sidorova’s Carmen from 11 to noon on KUAF.
