KUAF Arts Beat: Three Choirs Join SoNA For Christmas Cheer

Courtesy Symphony of Northwest Arkansas

Symphony of Northwest Arkansas presents their annual Christmas concert this weekend.

"A Very SoNA Christmas" features seasonal favorites with accompaniment from the University of Arkansas Schola Cantorum, the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir and vocalist Genine LaTrice Perez.

Schola Cantorum director Steven Caldwell tells Katy Henriksen what to expect from this year's show and why the annual event is important for local choirs.

"It gives us an opportunity to get to ears that wouldn't otherwise hear the choir," he says. "And it gives the students an opportunity to see a conductor who isn't me... to watch all the choirs in action."

Both concerts are Saturday Dec. 15 (2 and 7:30 p.m.) at the Walton Arts Center. SoNA performs again on Dec. 16, with a live scoring of the film The Snowman at 3 p.m.
