Of Note: Stravinsky's Radical 'Rite of Spring'

The 1913 Paris debut of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring," is legendary for its stunning iconoclasm.

"I think it still is a very subversive classical piece of music in which Stravinsky broke all the predictable rules," explains Lia Uribe, principal bassoonist in the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA). Her instrument takes the spotlight to open up the entire suite, playing in an extremely high register.

SoNA presents the piece as part of its Masterworks IV concert to close out their  season Saturday, May 4, at the Walton Arts Center.
