State Releases Arkansas Ready to Learn Healthy School Guide for Parents, Educators

On Thursday, Governor Asa Hutchinson reported there were 652 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, as well as an additional nine deaths from the virus, bringing that total to 582. The number of hospitalized Arkansans decreased by 23. With the start of school 11 days away, the governor also announced a partnership between Arkansas Children's Hospital, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the state's Departments of Education and Health to communicate with parents and educators about the best practices for attending school in person. UAMS Chancellor Dr. Cam Patterson said the Arkansas Ready to Learn Healthy School Guide provides the latest scientific information to help families prepare for in-person classes. Ivy Pfeffer, the deputy commissioner at the Department of Education, said additional resources for social and emotional support will be released soon for schools.
