Democratic officials meet in Little Rock to discuss direction of party

Screen grab from livestream

Last week, Democratic officials met in Little Rock to discuss the direction of the party. At the meeting, Ken Martin, the recently elected chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), explained how the party can win back voters. He said he doesn’t see a need for the party to change its policy positions, but to change its branding.

At the meeting, the party announced an agreement that, going forward, the Association of State Democratic Committees will provide the Arkansas Democrats an additional $5,000 each month. Jane Kleeb, president of the Association, said Democrats in states like Arkansas need more support in order to help Democrats win more elections at the federal level.

Despite Arkansas being a solidly red state, Kleeb said Democrats chose to meet in Little Rock because it is a prominent Southern city that is friendly to Democratic positions.
