Art from women and men who have been creating for decades is hanging alongside art created by northwest Arkansas students at The Medium in downtown Springdale. The exhibit “Generational Journeys” officially opens with a reception on Thursday, Sept. 12, night. Yesterday, Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams visited with Carla Nemec, co-director of the exhibit, about the exhibit at her home in Springdale.

NWA Movement Hub contributes to and promotes dance in the region, co-founded by Karen Castleman and Michelle Summers. The Hub supports Flyover Contemporary Dance Company and other artistic collaborations. Both founders have a lifelong passion for dance, choreography and dance education. Early next month, the group’s inaugural Jingle Jam at the CACHE Studios in Bentonville will celebrate many forms of dance.

A report released this month shows just what arts and culture can mean for Arkansas’ economy. The findings are included in the study titled Arts and Economic Prosperity 6, or AEP6 for short. Karen Castleman, the dance and events manager of CACHE Studios and a consultant for the AEP6 study, explains some of the numbers included in the survey.
