Since the late 1990s, KAWS has been creating a cast of iconic characters steeped in the American zeitgeist that populate his work. Each with their own distinct personality pulled in part from their creator, these characters have been a constant throughline in the artist’s career. The exhibition takes its title and thematic jumping-off point from the sculpture titled FAMILY (2021), which brings together four of KAWS’ characters posed in the style of a family portrait. As witnessed throughout the show, the relationships between the figures can be complex, familiar, and astonishingly heartfelt entryways into human emotions.

The League of Women Voters of Washington County (LWVWC) continues its Drinks and Dialogue gatherings in July. This event will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Crisis Brewing, 210 S. Nelson Hackett Blvd., in Fayetteville.
The guest speaker will be Bill Kopsky, executive director of the Arkansas Public Policy Panel, who will discuss the recent Arkansas legislative session. He also will discuss the panel’s voting guide, with details on how each lawmaker voted on key bills, as well as the panel’s work on ballot measures around education and protecting the ballot measure process.
The Arkansas Public Policy Panel is a 62-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding social justice in Arkansas through community organizing and coalition building to help Arkansas families and residents improve their communities. The panel is the organizer of the Arkansas Citizens First Congress (CFC), a coalition of 50 community organizations founded in 1998 as a 501(c)(4) sister organization to lead progressive policy change in Arkansas.
The two organizations’ agendas, elected by their members, include economic, education, environmental and civil rights issues, as well as promoting civic engagement. The panel and CFC have a 10-year power building agenda that includes expanding the use of ballot measures in Arkansas to advance social justice issues and increasing voter engagement to complement the organizing and coalition building that is the foundation of their strategy.
This event is open to the public, and admission is free.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging informed and active participation in government. The group does not endorse any candidates or political parties.
