When superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma founded his project Silk Road in 1998 he was "eager to forge connections across cultures, disciplines and generations." Eighteen years later and the Silk Road Ensemble is thriving with a new release titledSing Me Home, an album that Ma says "demonstrates the power of curiosity, evolving tradition and cultural exchange."
It's a collaborative effort with musicians and composers from all backgrounds, with collaborators that include Grammy-nominated Sarah Jarosz and jazz vocalist Gergory Porter, just to name a few. Hear highlights in Thursday's program coming up at 11 a.m. only here on KUAF.
