Thousands of breeding sows, penned at C&H Hog Farms in Newton County, as well as piglets and several boars, were recently removed from the facility.

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism announced this week that terms of an agreement to close C&H Hog Farms, a controversial industrial swine breeding facility on the Buffalo National River Watershed, have been carried out. The Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission now holds a conservation easement on the property, for which the farmers were compensated $6.2 million dollars.
