National Weather Service Celebrates 150th Anniversary

Karen Hatfield is a meteorologist based at the National Weather Service Tulsa office.

This month, the National Weather Service celebrated its 150th anniversary. The agency's mission is to provide data, observations, forecasts, and warnings of weather, water and climate events to save lives, protect property, and enhance the national economy. Karen Hatfield, a meteorologist with the NWS in Tulsa, which monitors weather in our listening region, provides some historial accounts and a peek inside how her operation works.
