Community Spotlight: Slow Streets Pilot Project Launches in Bentonville

Today Pete is joined via phone by Lauren Hildreth, the event manager with BikeNWA, to talk about a pilot project that BikeNWA recently started, called Slow Streets.

The goal of Slow Streets is to encourage physical activity while practicing social distancing by utilizing easily accessible public spaces for pedestrian, scooter, skater, and bicycle use only, by blocking off roads from vehicles.  Slow Streets was launched in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and strives to provide a safe space for the community to get some fresh air and physical activity, while maintaining a healthy distance from others.

There will be another Slow Streets pilot event in Bentonville this Sunday, May 17th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.  To view the route or for more information, visit the Slow Street Program on the City of Bentonville's Parks and Recreation website

If you would like to see Slow Streets happen in your neighborhood, contact BikeNWA at info@bikenwa.org as well as your local city representatives.
