Maternal Mortality Series: Episode 2

“When you think about the fact that about two and a half times as many Black babies die as white babies die, it really puts it in perspective,” said Amber Nicole Booth-McCoy, UAMS manager of intercultural education, in a panel about maternal/infant mortality.

In a collaboration with the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI) and KUAF, ACHI CEO Dr. Joe Thompson and Ozarks At Large reporter Rachell Sanchez-Smith dive into depth about maternal health and deaths in Arkansas.

In the second episode, the pair focuses on the deaths closer to delivering and immediately after birth, and what the numbers can tell us about the full landscape of maternal mortality in the natural state.
