Frigid temperatures may have shifted the Northwest Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Council's annual Freedom March from the outdoors to a virtual exercise inside TheatreSquared, but spirits could not be dampened.

Observations for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday included song, prayer and reflection. On today's show, we listen back to this past weekend's celebration of Dr. King in northwest Arkansas. The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Council will host its 29th annual Recommitment Celebration Saturday night at the Fayetteville Public Library. This year’s event is titled “Echoes From the Lorraine Motel: The Movement Then, The Mission Now” and will feature a conversation with Michael Eric Dyson.

The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Council is celebrating the upcoming holiday with a number of events - including a new cultural festival held at Crystal Bridges on Friday night and a keynote speech from Author and Journalist Nikole Hannah Jones on Saturday. Ozarks at Large's Daniel Caruth spoke with the council's president Lindsey Leverett-Higgins about how people can get involved ahead of the holiday.
