Scientists say they're getting closer to creating artificial blood

For decades, scientists have been trying to create artificial blood to alleviate shortages and prevent people from bleeding to death. But those efforts have been repeatedly frustrated by failure. Now, however, scientists are optimistic they may finally be getting closer to success.
