KUAF Community Spotlight

National Poetry Month- Jamie Forrester

Jamie Forrester talks poetry with Grace. They share how they first got into the art form "as a tool for communication in general," and how poetry "can be almost like puzzle... and that can be cathartic and communal."

Their poem, "Poem for Migratory Birds" is a poignant exploration of grief on both an individual and community level. The first line "I miss my mom," immediately places the listener in the room with the poet.

Grace Penry is a teaching assistant and MFA candidate at the University of Arkansas in creative writing and translation.
