Of Note for Wednesday, August 19, 2015: Dvořák's Serenade For The Outdoors

Antonín Dvořák’s “Serenade in D Minor” was meant to be performed outdoors. The seemingly odd ensemble of ten wind instruments, cello, and double bass for which the piece was written is uniquely suited for amplification in an outdoor venue. So open your windows or sit on a porch and let the Netherlands Wind Ensemble’s performance of this summery serenade envelop you as we explore it and more on Wednesday’s program.
