"Two springs gush forth in the shade of the Bohemian forest, the one warm and swift flowing, the other cool and tranquil." Bedrich Smetana describes his homeland in "The Moldau." Though many symphonies have 4 movements, Smetana instead presents 6 tone-poems. Each movement in the cycle seeks to paint a picture of a piece of his beloved country.
