Exploring Notions of Privilege, Belonging, Code-Switching

In The Hate U Give, author Angie Thomas explores the life of Starr Carter, a 16-year-old living a dual life with her home in the majority-black neighborhood Garden Heights and her school the majority-white private Williamson Prep. Last week, Thomas sat down for a public conversation about the book at Fayetteville Public Library as part of this year's One Book, One Community initiative. Here's much of that conversation.
