Michelle Pedro, Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese policy director, recently spoke at a virtual COFA Medicaid enrollment conference about Ozark islanders' status.

Since Congress approved Medicaid for Compact of Free Association migrants residing in the U.S. late last year, a small number of eligible Arkansas Marshallese have applied for the entitlement. Michelle Pedro, policy director and communications specialist for Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese in Springdale, says advocacy groups are working to overcome certain barriers to enrollment, including language.
