'Sound Perimeter' Live brings music and dialouge to TheatreSqaured

“Sound Perimeter” is a podcast and regular Ozarks at Large segment created and hosted by Lia Uribe, professor of music and an associate dean at the University of Arkansas Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Wednesday evening, Uribe hosted the first “Sound Perimeter Live”, an intimate concert and community conversation at TheatreSqaured in downtown Fayetteville. Ozark at Large’s Sophia Nourani, who is also the producer of Sound Perimeter, attended the event and captured some of the dialogue, and of course, music.

Sound Perimeter Live centered around Latin American music traditions, but also incorporated visual elements. Local artist Lisa Marie Evans created a silent animation to accompany one of the pieces, and the audience was invited to view while listening. The piece, titled “Tongolele”, was originally composed by Gabriela Ortiz.

Uribe said she is excited to potentially do more live Sound Perimeter performances.
