Today's Sound Perimeter explores how music moves across borders: geographic, cultural and emotional. Featuring works by Marcos Balter and Bright Sheng, we hear how composers reimagine traditional sounds through con temporary lenses. From the piercing voices of sopranino saxophones navigating a Landscape of Fear to the powerful cello evoking the rhythms of Tibetan folk dance, these pieces reflect journeys of migration, adaptation and creative transformation. Music, in this episode, becomes both a map and a memory, tracing where we come from and imagining where we might go. Other artists featured include Leland Ko and the Prism Quartet.
Sound Perimeter is a segment hosted by Lia Uribe and dedicated to diverse voices in and around music. We hope it’ll expand your knowledge and connection to inclusive sounds and let music infiltrate your lives and transform your realities.
