Join Vicky Willis, a certified Yoga instructor, and OLLI’s Yoga Guru, in this transformative course designed specifically for those looking to enhance their well-being as they age. Through slow, precise movements rooted in Yoga, participants will systematically stretch and condition their muscles, providing essential support to aging joints. This course focuses on four key areas: strength, flexibility, agility, and balance; fundamental elements for healthy living that can help eliminate morning stiffness and improve overall mobility. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket, blocks, a yoga strap, and a yoga mat, and to wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Since the late 1990s, KAWS has been creating a cast of iconic characters steeped in the American zeitgeist that populate his work. Each with their own distinct personality pulled in part from their creator, these characters have been a constant throughline in the artist’s career. The exhibition takes its title and thematic jumping-off point from the sculpture titled FAMILY (2021), which brings together four of KAWS’ characters posed in the style of a family portrait. As witnessed throughout the show, the relationships between the figures can be complex, familiar, and astonishingly heartfelt entryways into human emotions.

The Machine Behind the Art: Inside JR’s Printing Press is one of JR’s most extensive immersive and experiential works to date. After taking portraits in one of three individual photo booths, visitors enter the interior of an oversized, whirring printing press – turning their image into a tangible work of art while offering a glimpse into the creative process of JR. After the experience, visitors leave with their own, one-of-a-kind print.

This course focuses on recent events in Russia and the post-Soviet space, many of which stem from enduring ethnic tensions. The Russian Federation is home to 180 nationalities, many of which have long been in conflict. We will examine how the Russian state—under the Tsars, Soviets, and President Vladimir Putin—has sought to impose uniformity, often diminishing ethnic groups. Through a historical lens, we will explore the struggles of these groups, from peaceful movements like the Circassian movement to violent resistance like Chechnya. Contemporary Russian culture, including music, cinema, cuisine, and humor, will also be discussed to illuminate current events.

This course begins by unraveling the mysteries of the brain. We will explore how to navigate the complex and fragmented healthcare system and discuss strategies for advocating for personalized care. In addition to simplifying common neurological conditions—such as headaches, dizziness, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and memory loss—we will examine testing and imaging of the nervous system. The course will also focus on illness prevention through healthy lifestyles and provide an intimate discussion of end-of-life issues.

"Through mixed media, yet divergent styles, Amber and Sandra take the viewer on an exploration of the power of nature to ignite, to inspire, to nurture, to calm the human spirit. Sandra Spotts is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and a current resident of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She cultivated a love for art at a very early age which led to earning a degree in Art from the University of Arkansas with a minor in English.
Sandra spent many years teaching elementary and junior high art as well as working as a professional artist and designer. In addition to painting, usually in an abstract expressionist style, she has worked and exhibited as a weaver, paper maker and creator of sculptural contemporary basketry, winning several awards. One of her works is a part of the permanent collection of the Art Museum of Arkansas.
Her love of writing and storytelling influences her mixed media painting style in which she often incorporates fragments of letters, books and other found objects and original prose. Her themes are often highly personal and emotional responses to life events, observation of nature or global events. Sandra is co-producer and performer on the live storytelling show, “Homegrown Tales.”
She currently exhibits regionally and nationally. Amber Leibee, a watercolorist and amateur naturalist. My artistic intention is to record the profound peace inherent to silent moments of solitary study and observation of the natural world. My works are small, meant for an audience of one, an intimate exchange between artist and viewer. I am influenced by Muriel Foster, Alexander von Humboldt, and Clare Walker Leslie. All paints used in my palette are hand mulled using water from a local spring, this process helps me understand how my pigments will mix and behave together on paper. The majority of my work is done en plein air, rendered first in graphite, then watercolor, and on occasion finished with pen and ink details. Amber Leibee is a watercolorist and amateur naturalist. Some topics don’t fit neatly into OLLI science classes—too big, too small, too little, too much, too off-topic—and often end up on the proverbial cutting room floor. In this course, these intriguing bits and ends are gathered up and presented like a charcuterie board of tasty science snacks. This will be a six-week romp through just about anything one might imagine including a little bit of color theory, a morsel of genetic testing science, a dash of airplane physics, some lightning theory, a mouse that turns scorpion venom into a painkiller, current scientific thoughts on origins of life, and a lot of time to explore topics of interest to you. Bring your questions and we will explore some of the exciting nooks and crannies of science together

Join us for A Garden Party, a vibrant community celebration and the grand finale of this year’s May Festival of the Arts. This joyful event marks the unveiling of a new public art mural honoring our region’s native plant life and the volunteers who help it thrive. Taking place on the retaining wall beneath the Native Plant Garden, the mural features a lively composition of native plants and pollinators, designed to spotlight the beauty and ecological importance of this unique garden space.
