Osher Lifelong Learning Institute-Knit Like a Pro: Essential Tips and Tricks for Every Knitter
Ready to attend a fun, informative class and explore knitting techniques every knitter loves to master? This class is led by expert knitter Grace Judson, who’s been a knitter for decades (she’s not saying how many!), and who has sold patterns to yarn companies and was America’s Fastest Knitter in 2002. The session will cover practical tips designed to make your knitting easier, faster (of course!), more enjoyable, and visually appealing. We’ll dive into how to easily calculate even increases, mastering invisible yarn joining, one-row buttonholes, fixing common mistakes, and smooth bind-off techniques. We’ll also cover tips for increasing and decreasing, navigating the complexities of gauge, and cables without cableneedles. And there will be plenty of time to address your specific knitting questions! Participants should bring Aran-weight or worsted-weight yarn in several fibers (at least one should be 100% non-superwash wool), knitting needles and a crochet hook suited to your yarn, a swatch of 25 stitches by 25 rows in one of your selected yarns (extra credit if you deliberately make a mistake in the middle!), and any knitting questions you have. Get ready to enhance your skills and take your knitting to the next level!
