Of Note for Wed., Apr. 20, 2016: Preserving Culture Through Music

Composer Andrea Clearfield was inspired to write "Rabsong Shar" after a world-changing experience in field work documenting Tibetan melodies in the Himalayas and, as she states, "the idea that the story of a people can be told through their folk music and actually the preservation of a culture can happen through the folk music."

Find out more in my interview with Clearfield, who is in residence this week as the McIlroy Family Visiting Professor in Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Arkansas, on Wednesday's program at 11 a.m. only on KUAF.

The Arkansas New Music Ensemble presents the world premiere performance of "Rabsong Shar" this Thursday evening at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center.
