Freezing winds are sweeping over the state, and community members in our region are organizing to support unsheltered populations. Sophia Nourani speaks with the Fayetteville C.R.E.W, or Collaborative Response for Extreme Weather, about safety measures being taken in the city of Fayetteville to protect unhoused citizens.

A litter abatement program supported by the city of Fayetteville has resulted in 100 tons of litter being picked up this year. The program is called Pick Me Up and employs Fayetteville residents who are unhoused and underserved to pick up litter and debris along trails and homeless campsites throughout town. OAL’s Jack Travis takes us to the scene.

Today on The Outline: Fayetteville City Council voted unanimously to approve more than a million dollars in funding to 7hills Homeless Center. Also, Mercy Hospital Northwest and Mercy Fort Smith are joining with more than 30 other hospitals in the state to form the Arkansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative. Plus, prescription fills of the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone have tripled in the state.
