Plans are underway to enhance Combs Park in south Fayetteville by removing an obsolete water-works dam upstream on the West Fork of the White River and installing river beach access.

Arkansas is ranked seventh out of the 50 states with citizens that are most likely to go hungry. One in six people face hunger in Arkansas, one in five of those being children. That totals to about 470,000 people facing hunger in the state every day, according to Feeding America. The nonprofit organization MayDay NWA is coming together to help feed and create community for those who face hunger in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board this summer unanimously voted to recommend the city waive both daily and annual boating and fishing permit fees for Lake Sequoyah Park. The proposal will be presented to City Council tonight. Alison Jumper, Director of Fayetteville Parks, Natural Resources & Cultural Affairs, explains the proposed change, in part, is to encourage more visitors.
