Community Spotlight: June Bug Jam

Pete speaks with educator Hal Cuff about the 28th Annual June Bug Jam, a benefit for the Headwaters School, a collective of homeschoolers in Red Star, Arkansas. Proceeds from the event help fund the school’s general upkeep as well as its enrichment programs which focus on outdoor and environmental education.

This year’s jam takes place Saturday, June 7, in Red Star. The day will begin with guided bike rides on the Upper Buffalo River starting at noon, followed by a nature hike at 2 p.m. led by naturalist Kent Bonar. Live music kicks off at 5 p.m. with performances from Bill Smylie, Korey McKelvy, Dandelion Heart, Yongi Live and others. The event also features food vendors and family-friendly games throughout the day.

Pete Hartman is KUAF's operations manager.
