Jonesboro Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy who was found carrying a gun on the Nettleton High School Campus.
The Jonesboro Sun reports that police were dispatched to the school on Tuesday at about 8:10 P.M. The school's security guard told police that he found a boy in the gym on campus carrying a firearm. Police said that the boy was found with nine unspent rounds of ammunition and a 9 mm Stoeyer STR-9C semi-automatic handgun.
Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliot said on Wednesday that the boy was not a Nettleton High School student and that the incident was not related to a recent rash of shootings in Jonesboro.
The boy is being held at the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center and was charged with suspicion of possession of a handgun by a minor on school property, being a felon in possession of a firearm, obstructing governmental operations, juvenile probation violation, and criminal trespass.
