There are some new laws in Arkansas that are intended to make travel easier and safer for both cyclists and motorists, but they only work when everybody knows what they are, which is why the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation aims to educate both groups about the rules of the road.
About seven miles of new soft-surface trails have opened at Fayetteville's Millsap Mountain while the rest of the development of Centennial Park continues. The trails can be used by hikers and trail runners, but they are specifically optimized for mountain bikes. The open portions of the park include both beginner and intermediate trails.
As colleges fight to contain the spread of COVID-19 with virtual classes and reduced on-campus activites, 2020 fall enrollment numbers are declining across the board, but, according to a report from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, community colleges are taking the biggest hit. Northwest Arkansas Community College announced last month its enrollment dropped by 12 percent from fall 2019.
The Transition Academic Program will enable students to earn degrees at the University of Arkansas and NorthWest Arkansas Community College at the same time. Officials expect to admit 50 to 100 students into TAP each academic year, beginning with the fall 2019 semester. The program may be expanded in the future.
