On today’s special edition of the program, we’ll hear highlights from last month’s Gathering of the Groups at the Fayetteville Public Library. This year’s event focused on I Have the Right To: A High School Survivor’s Story of Sexual Assault, Justice and Hope, which was read throughout the region as part of the One Book, One Community Project. The discussion featured authors Chessy Prout and Jenn Abelson. Chessy was a 15-year-old student at a prestigious New England boarding school in 2014 when she was sexually assaulted by a popular senior at the school. Jenn, an investigative journalist at the Washington Post, helped write Chessy’s memoir, which follows her journey of navigating the legal system after reporting her attack and her decision to become an advocate.
