Scratching the Surface: What's Inside the Sun?

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory

Welcome to Scratching the Surface with Caitlin Ahrens, the Pluto Manager at the University of Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Science.

Has anyone ever told you not to stare at the Sun

Well, in this episode, Caitlin is disregarding that advice and looking directly at the focal point of our solar system. We travel through the Sun's many layers down to it's core (which reaches up to 27 million degrees Fahrenheit!) as she explains everything from how light travels through the Sun to what creates Sunspots.
