Roger Barrett, longtime booker of independent bands at bars and venues in downtown Fayetteville, was inspired by two successful Arkansas music festivals, the Valley of the Vapors in Hot Springs and the Fayetteville Roots Festival, when he created On the Map Fest, a two-day showcase for a dizzying variety of bands ranging from homegrown doom metal proprietors Pallbearer from Little Rock to riot grrrl inspired pop punk of Los Angeles-based Bleached & everything in between. On the Map Fest kicks off this evening at the Fayetteville Town Center.
