Local Music

  • The next seven days of musical attractions features jazz fusion, folk, metal, and plenty of rock and roll throughout the region.
  • Classical music has long drawn from the rich tapestry of traditions woven by the composers who create it. Today in Sound Perimeter, we feature Native American musicians Jacqui Wilson, Juantio Becenti and Jerod Tate, shaping American Classical music with their diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. I hope you connect today with peoples and places, while exploring new worlds of emotions and stories, evolving and adapting.
  • The DIY- or “Do It Yourself”- music scene in Northwest Arkansas is a vibrant, diverse community that thrives on the innovation of local artists. Ozarks At Large's Sophia Nourani speaks with Robert Bishop, KUAF’s music manager, about Fayetteville’s strong connection to music and community and an upcoming event that highlights their importance.
  • There is much live music happening in the next seven days, including two blues guitar greats visiting the region, Sting performing in Rogers, and a variety of other Americana, metal and rock shows throughout the area.
  • Today in Sound Perimeter we feature music by New York City-based Iranian composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh , and the Four Corners String Quartet, a rich tapestry of diverse sounds, rhythms, and identities that reflect unique cultures, histories, and searches for the meaning of life. I hope you are inspired by this music that transcends boundaries and offers a language that unites people from all walks of life through our shared human experiences.
  • Aside from this week's Format Festival, there are several musical attractions throughout the next seven days, including a seemingly larger-than-normal number of metal shows.
  • Today we are celebrating Sound Perimeter’s 100th episode with a birthday gift from Gabriel Faure, a moment frozen in time in a composition by Dai Wei, and, like true Colombian lovers we are, dancing, with J Balvin and Willy William reggaeton.
  • The next several days features many touring musicians and bands returning to the area, as well as many local favorites.
  • The next seven days of live music includes a live performance of the soundtrack to a classic film, many tribute acts, plenty of folk, funk and more.
  • Sometimes the most beautiful lullabies are the sounds of our surroundings. Today in Sound Perimeter we listened to lullabies, an invitation to reminisce on those tranquil and loving sounds of sounds from our memories, our childhood and our environment, in the hands of guitarist and composer Miroslav Tadić, and flutist and composer Ricardo Benitez.
